ENVIRONMENT CONSERVATION MEASURES

  1. Although limestone is fundamental raw material of cement manufacture, its use is minimized by increased use of fly ash as part of blending materials. Use of blended cement is contributing to CO2 reduction and other environmental benefits significantly.

  2. Minimizing energy consumption in each stage of manufacture right from mining operation, to packing and dispatching by better energy management of the existing plant and machinery.

  3. Use of waste materials as supplementary fuel to cut down dependence of fossil fuel based energy. Hazardous waste (waste oil/sludge) can be safely burnt in a cement kiln. Infact cement industry can be significant player in future with regards to using hazardous wastes.

  4. The waste water being generated from thermal power plant can be utilized in cement plant with a minimum treatment of water.

  5. In the cement plant the water used for cooling machinery is recycled.

  6. Domestic sewage from our colony is being treated at STP and  used on land for irrigation.

  7. A drip irrigation system has been adapted to conserve precious water.

  8. The Company has opted for IS/ISO-14001 certification to prove its commitment to environment protection.

  9. We are concerned about the air quality around our plant i.e., at Sedam town and hence we have fixed one ambient air quality station on Community Center Lions Club Sedam

  10. Bag filters and ESPs installed at various places in the plant restrain the stack emissions well below the prescribed limits.

  11. Fugitive emissions are controlled by dust suppression systems, insertable type bag filters etc.

  12. "What can't be measure can't be controlled" We have full fledged environment lab with qualified engineers to measure and monitor the environmental parameters.

  13. We have developed a green belt consisting of over 2.0 lakhs plants in an around region. This has lowered the surrounding temperature and increased water table.

  14. Fruit plants are distributed free to colony residents to encourage plantation.

  15. The entire colony and its roads are surrounded by thick plantation

  16. Gardens have been developed inside the plant to change the working environment.

  17. Colony residents are encouraged to develop Green Environment through competition

  18. Mango orchard and Flower Garden are developed at various places.

  19. A beautiful garden worth seeing is developed around the Chairman's bungalow.
